UHV Men’s Golf Finishes Strong In S.A.

Jaguars Take Fourth Place

The University of Houston-Victoria men’s golf team turned in a final round 323 on the TPC Oaks Course to move up one spot for a fourth-place finish at the event that featured a number of ranked NAIA teams in the 16-team field.

Opening day leader Wayland Baptist turned in the best round of the day with a 306 to claim the team title with a 54-hole 893, well ahead of second place Texas Wesleyan. TWU finished with a 325 for a 929.


The Jaguars and Morningside College battled it out for third place with the Jaguars coming up two shots shot. Morningside finished with a 324 for a 935, while the Jaguars finished at 937. Truett McConnell rounded out the top five with a final round 326 and a 942.


Ryan Morant (SO/Houston, TX) carded a final round 77 to finish at 228 and tied for sixth to lead the Jaguars. Will Paton (FR/Portsmouth, England) followed Morant in a tie for 16th posting a final round 80 and a 234. Max Schliesing (FR/Switzerland) chipped in an 85 for a 237, while Jacob Flores (SO/Pharr, TX) posted an 83 for a 240 and Benjamin Lake (JR/Victoria, TX) carded an 83 for a 252.
