Final round action in the UHV Claud Jacobs Invitational golf tourney Monday.
I was at Victoria Country Club for the mens’ action. The Jaguars’ Ryan Morant on 18, 25-foot putt for birdie. Got It. Morant with six birdies on the day, even par 72, he takes third. UHV’s Ben Lake starts the day tied for the lead. The former East Titan shoots 75 to finish tied for fifth. The UHV men shoot 297, the same score they shot in round two, and they finish in second by 14 shots behind nationally ranked Texas Wesleyan. The Jaguars’ Max Schliesing shoots 76 to finish in a tie for 15th. I talked with two Jaguar men after round three.
Said Morant, “Felt good to finish up strong. I had a few bad holes in the middle of the round, but it felt good to at least finish with two birdies.”
Said Lake, “I left a couple of shots out there, didn’t play as good as yesterday. But overall I hit the ball alright. Wished a few more putts would’ve dropped but played pretty okay.”
At The Club At Colony Creek, final round for the women at the UHV Claud Jacobs Invitational. Jaguars Jenna Alvarado and Leah Lerma start the round tied for third. Alvarado shoots 79 to finish tied for fifth. Mia Lerma also shoots 79. The Jaguar sophomore finishes 10th. Her older sister, Leah, with a final round 83, ending up in a tie for 11th.
