UHV Baseball Signs Three Players
University of Houston-Victoria head baseball coach Terry Puhl today announced the signing of three players for the 2019 season.
The signees include incoming freshmen Diego Garcia of Rockport and Brandon Reichle of Houston, along with transfer Andrew Loudermilk of Pearland. Garcia was a catcher for the Rockport-Fulton, while Reichle played first base for Stratford High School. Loudermilk was the Friday starter for the University of Texas Permian Basin.
While with the Pirates, Garcia earned a Gold Glove and was named to the All-District 31-4A honorable mention squad as a junior.
Garcia plans to study criminal justice while attending UHV.
“I chose UHV because it’s close to home and the small classes allow one-on-one with the professors,” said Garcia in making his commitment. Reichle served as co-captain for the Spartans, and was named to team’s co-offensive MVP. He also earned academic all-state honorable mention recognition.
Reichle plans to study health studies while attending UHV.
“I chose to attend UHV because it was a way for me to continue my baseball career as well as receive a great education,” said Reichle. “It seems like a great school where I will meet many new people and a place where I can have a lot of fun on and off the field.”
Loudermilk had nine starts last season for UTPB working 55.2 innings and compiling a 6.51 ERA. His biggest outing came when he threw a complete game against Texas A&M-Kingsville allowing three runs, while striking out seven.
Loudermilk plans to study business management while attending UHV.
“I chose UHV because I think it will give me the best opportunity to make it to the next level,” said Loudermilk.
The trio are among 17 prospects Puhl has signed for the upcoming 2019 season.
