UHV Baseball Set To Start Conference Play

Jaguars Play Doubleheader At Riverside Friday

Uhv Baseball 2 19

UHV baseball, starting conference play here Friday.

The Jaguars have not played a game since Valentine’s Day. That’s when they got swept in a doubleheader at Southwestern Assemblies Of God. UHV baseball now 1-5 in pre-conference play. The Jaguars did have a scrimmage against Houston Community College last weekend at Riverside. Their only win so far this season, a 5-4 victory over Mid-American Christian in game two of their opening day doubleheader. Two Jaguars told me how good their looks heading into Red River play.
Said catcher Max Shelton, “We just finished up a series at SAGU. It didn’t go the way that we wanted it to, but we also played a home game Sunday. It went really well against HCC. We’re excited to get into this week. We definitely have a lot more energy.”

Said right fielder Luis Vargas, “On Sunday we looked pretty good. We looked pretty confident. Hitting-wise we looked good, defensively and pitching, too. Hopefully we’ll put all that together next game and win that game.”
Industrial-ex Bailey Kolb gets the start for UHV baseball in game one Friday at Riverside. The Jaguars open Red River play at noon in a doubleheader against A&M-Texarkana.
