UHV Adds Baseball, Softball Player
UHV signs a baseball and a softball player Thursday.
University of Houston-Victoria softball coach Lindsey Ortiz today announced the signing of Calhoun High School infielder Alexis Carabajal to a letter of intent to play softball for the Jaguars in 2018.
Carabajal, a four-year starter for the Sandies, helped guide her team to a 24-11-1 record this past season and a trip to the Class 5A Region 4 quarterfinals. It was the Sandies first trip to the quarterfinals since the 2011 season.
The third baseman was selected as Calhoun’s Newcomer of the Year in 2014, Offensive Player of the Year in 2015 and 2106 and Defensive Player of the Year this past season. She has not only be successful on the field, but in the classroom as well.
She has been named to the softball academic all-district team for four years and is a two-year member of the National Honor Society.
“Softball has always been a huge part of my life. I could not imagine not doing it for as long as possible,” said Carabajal in announcing her commitment. “UHV is a good school, has a great softball program and is close to home.”
Carabajal plans to study pre-dental while attending UHV.
University of Houston-Victoria baseball coach Terry Puhl announced his third signing of the week Thursday with the commitment of Conroe outfielder Nathan Letien to the UHV baseball program.
Letien is a four-year lettermen with the Conroe Tigers, and along with his success on the field, he has been successful in the classroom as well. He is a member of the National honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
“I chose to attend UHV because of the great opportunity I have of playing baseball on the collegiate level,” said Letien in signing his letter of intent. “The college environment at UHV also suits me perfectly.”
Letien plans to study Business Administration while attending UHV.
