Two undefeated teams will face off in Week 4

Shiner Comanches to take on Poth Pirates

SHINER, Texas– The Shiner Comanches are preparing for the game of the week the best way they know how, which is out on the practice field.

The Comanches game against San Antonio-Davenport showed the players and coaches what the team needs to focus on.

Head coach Daniel Boedeker about why shiner plays larger schools like Hallettsville, Blanco, San Antonio Davenport, and now Poth during the non-district part of their schedule. Coach Boedker said once district starts, they want to have all their mistakes ironed out and playing competition as they have, does that.

“Well, it was definitely a credit to our kids and our coaches talking at halftime and being able to make adjustments to some of the things they were causing us problems with and then our kids going out and executing so it was definitely a great effort by both.”

The Comanches were down by 14 points at one point only to rally back and go on an impressive 28-0 run to win the game. Senior lineman Hunter Nevlud said being able to overcome that adversity and make a stamp on the game said a lot about their team.

“I think they just came out with a lot of passing and just a lot of tempo and caught us off guard for a little bit but once we made adjustments we were just fine.”

Last year, Nevlud was unable to play in the state championship game due to injuring his left foot. But he was able to be carried onto the field by teammates Doug Brooks and Tyler Bishop for the final plays of the game.
