Two UHV Softball Players Get Conference Honors

Two UHV softball players get Red River Conference Awards. After helping guide the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars to a 5-1 week, including a 3-1 record in Red River Athletic Conference play, Aubri Hockenbury and Haley Beam earned recognition this week from the RRAC.

Hockenbury on Wednesday was named the RRAC Softball Player of the Week, while Beam was named the RRAC Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Hockenbury, a senior centerfielder from Santa Fe, carried a big bat for the Jaguars as she led the offensive power with a .579 batting average that included a team high three home runs and 11 RBI. She scored seven runs, had two doubles and a triple as she compiled a 1.263 slugging percentage and a .579 on-base percentage.

She also finished with a team-high 24 totals bases in the six games and did not strikeout in 19 official at bats. She also did not commit an error in 12 chances that included 11 putouts and one assist.

Beam, a senior from Pearland, continued to dominate in the circle despite giving up eight runs on the week. All eight runs were unearned as she finished the week with a 0.00 ERA to lower her conference-leading era to 0.47 on the season.

She appeared in four games with three starts and one complete game as she went 3-0 to improve her overall record to 7-0 in the circle this season. She allowed the eight runs on 18 hits and two walks, while striking out 15 in 20 innings of work.

She also helped herself at the plate as she compiled a .353 batting average with seven runs, two RBI, a double and a home run.
