Two UHV softball players earn conference honors

Revels, Galindo receive weekly RRAC awards

Michelle Revels (SR/Corpus Christi, TX) earned her second straight Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor Monday, while her University of Houston-Victoria teammate Cheyenne Galindo (SO/Ganado, TX) picked up her second RRAC Pitcher of the Week honor.

The two earned their conference honor for their play for the week of March 4-10.

Revels, a senior center fielder from Corpus Christi, helped pace her team to a 3-0 sweep over Huston-Tillotson in conference play as she compiled a 0.500 batting average with four RBI. She finished the week with a 0.800 slugging percentage behind three doubles and had a 0.500 on-base percentage.

She has hit safely in eight of her last nine games and has five multi-hit games in that span.

Galindo, a sophomore from Ganado, was dominating in the circle as she compiled a 2-0 record in her two appearances in the series against Huston-Tillotson.

In her only start, she took a perfect game into the fifth inning before losing the no-hitter on a two-out double. She finished allowing two hits with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings in the game.

She then tossed three scoreless innings of relief in the final game to earn the win as she allowed one hit and two walks, while striking out two.

She is currently 4-2 with a 0.99 ERA on the season.

She also won the award for the week of Feb. 4-10.
