Two siblings from Edna ISD test positive for COVID-19

EDNA, Texas – Edna Independent School District Superintendent Robert O’Connor said two students, who are related, have tested positive for COVID-19.

O’Connor said the siblings were only on campus Friday, July 31 and both wore masks. Their symptoms have subsided since and the siblings won’t return until the 14 day quarantine period has passed, said the superintendent.

Edna ISD has been able to purchase some personal protective equipment on its own until the rest of the PPE from the state arrives.

The superintendent said the district would only consider closing a campus down for sanitation purposes.

Edna ISD does want to clarify that the two siblings did not contract the virus on campus.

We will keep updating this article as soon as we get more details from the district.

Reports are Edna’s one of the first public school districts in the state to resume class.
