Two locals are drafted by MLB teams

Former Generals pitchers get picked up in the MLB Draft

VICTORIA,Texas– The MLB Draft took place this past weekend and a couple of local names got picked.

A former Victoria General and a Victoria East Titan graduate are both heading to the big leagues.

Former Victoria Generals Spencer Arrighetti has been drafted by the Houston Astros in the 6th round of the draft #178. Arrighetti was part of the Generals in 2019. He also attended Navarro Junior College, TCU and University of Louisiana.

Titans’ Zach Leigh is heading to the Windy City where he will join the Chicago Cubs after he was drafted in the 16th round, 484 overall. Leigh, a right-handed pitcher who played at Texas state ended his career as the 10th bobcat hurler to surpass 200 career strikeouts with 204. He also posted a complete game shutout and was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week back in April. Leigh spent time with the Generals as their pitcher.
