Two Bay City men injured in discussion over license to carry
Bay City police officers went to 4617 7th Street in reference to multiple gunshot victims on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at approximately 9:44 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found two men who appeared to be injured. Both required medical attention.
Witnesses stated several subjects were sitting around the pool discussing Texas’ License To Carry Laws. Someone mentioned wanting to go out to a gun range and practice shooting a .380 caliber pistol. Someone suggested one of the males show his .380 pistol. As he began pulling his gun out of his pocket, it went off striking him in the leg.
The other male was sitting nearby when the gun went off and he was struck by a ricochet. The subject hit from the ricochet was transported by private vehicle to Matagorda Regional where he was treated for a broken ring finger. The actual gunshot victim was taken by life flight to Memorial Herman Hospital.
Both males have since been treated and released from the hospitals. The incident is still currently under investigation.
