Two area football teams are heading to the state finals

Shiner and Hallettsville will both play in the state championship game

The Hallettsville Brahmas are heading to the football state championship game. Head Coach Tommy Pscencik and his Brahmas will make their first appearance at state. The Brahmus faced the Llano Yellowjackets last night in the state semi-finals. The Yellowjackets were undefeated all season and averaged 50 points a game. However Bonathon Brooks and the Brahmas held the Yellowjackets under 30 as they get the win 53-28. Brooks also scored six rushing touchdowns and a touchdown off an interception totaling his touchdowns to 7. The Brahmas will play in Jerry-World on Thursday at 7 p.m. Their opponent is still to be determined. The winner of Friday nights semi-final game between the Jim Ned Indians and Mount Vernon Tigers will face Hallettsville. Hallettsville did face Jim Ned during the regular season where Jim Ned got the win 24-21.

The Shiner Comanches are also heading to Jerry-World for the 2-A state finals. The Comanches who are undefeated will face Post Antelopes for the state title. The Shiner Comanches took on the Timpson Bears in the semi finals. The Comanches came out in dominant fashion. They went into the half shutting down the bears 42-0. The Bears did get to score before the game ended with a touchdown but that was all they got. However that wasn’t a problem for shiner as they breezed by the bears 49-7. Shiner will play for the state title also on Thursday but in the morning as their kick off is scheduled for 11 am.
