Truck driver taken to hospital after 18-wheeler struck by train near Placedo

Driver sustained minor injuries

PLACEDO, Texas- At approximately 2:10 p.m. an 18-wheeler was struck by an oncoming train near Placedo.

DPS Officer Sgt. San Miguel explained to Crossroads Today that the driver was turning onto a private road at a construction site failing to give right of way to an oncoming train. Subsequently, the front of the 18-wheeler was struck by the train pushing it to the side.

The driver was delivering railroad products to an oil field about five miles Northeast of Placedo on Thursday afternoon.

Victoria Fire Department says the trailer was crossing over a train track and the trailer was hit.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Citizens hospital.

This is still an on-going investigation.
