Tropical Wave Rainfall Leaves; Heat and Humidity Linger

The tropical wave that delivered 8 to 15 inches of rain to the Crossroads has now left the region, but extreme heat and humidity have become the dominant weather news. Temperatures have climbed into the lower to middle 90s this afternoon, but heat index values of 105 to 112 are oppressive. We can expect similar conditions Saturday and Sunday, with little relief overnight. Isolated showers return Monday and Tuesday with a weak upper level disturbance, but amounts will be small and fleeting. Most of next week looks hot, hazy and humid.
