Trooper Chad Walker funeral services open to the public

GROESBECK, Texas — This week, funeral services will be held in Groesbeck, Texas for Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chad Walker, who was shot while on duty near Mexia last week.
While responding to a call about a disabled vehicle on Highway 84, Walker was shot in the head and abdomen by the suspect inside the vehicle, according to Texas DPS Officers Association.
After being shot, he was taken to Baylor Scott and White’s Hillcrest hospital in Waco, where he later died.
Walker was from Groesbeck, which is about 40 minutes east of Waco. According to his obituary, his services will be held there.
What you need to know:
Walker’s funeral service is schedule for today at 10 a.m. at the Groesbeck High School Football Stadium, 1202 N. Ellis Street. His burial will follow at LaSalle Cemetery, FM 1953.
The public will be allowed to enter after Walker’s casket is placed on the field, which happened around 9 a.m. It is asked that the public enter through the northwest gate and the west fate, and seating will be on the home side of the bleachers.
Parking will be at Groesbeck High School, with a limited capacity of 350 spots. Designated handicap parking and their accompanying guest is reserved at Groesbeck Middle School.
