Synopsis: High pressure will keep the area hot, dry and humid through Sunday.  The high-pressure system will slowly start to retreat to the northwest beginning around Sunday night while low pressure storms push towards South Texas from the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.  The high will be strong enough to keep moisture trapped in the lower levels of the atmosphere allowing for late night and early morning fog Sunday into Monday.  More moisture begins to start moving into South Texas from the Gulf (south) from Monday through Tuesday.  The departing high, the approaching low, combined with increasing moisture, day-time heating, as well as disturbances tracking across the eastern periphery of the high-pressure system will increase rain chances (20-30 percent range) from Monday through Tuesday.  The best chances will be in the Victoria Crossroads while even greater rain chances (20 percent chance) loom if tropical storm development further develops during the middle of the week.  Warm and humid conditions will continue throughout the forecast period with high temperatures ranging from the upper 80’s to the low 100’s while overnight temperatures stay in the 70’s.  Heat indices could reach 110 degrees in some spots (further west) before cloud cover starts to increase after the weekend.  Over the next 24-hours tropical storm development in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico will be around 10 percent, but will increase to 50 percent over the next 5-days.
