Trend Toward Deep Easterly Flow Means Better Rain Chances
Deep layer tropical easterly flow has taken over across the Gulf of Mexico into the middle and upper Texas coast, increasing rain chances. In fact, a weak mid level disturbance moving into the Crossroads on Wednesday will mean scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms, with scattered storms continuing into the weekend. The first of next week a larger and more intense system will mean numerous thunderstorms Sunday through Tuesday, with widespread beneficial rainfall even more likely. While the Atlantic Basin is generally quiet at this time, we are approaching the climatological peak of hurricane season and medium range atmospheric models are showing trends of increasing activity.
