Traffic stop reveals marijuana and weapon, leading to arrest

Suspect has been booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center

VICTORIA, Texas – On Tuesday, Dec. 1, Deputy Dustin Kieschnick conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 71 near Eillinger. According to Sheriff Keith Korenek, when Deputy Kieschnick approached the driver, he detected the smell of Marijuana. He then had the individuals exit the vehicle. At that time, Deputy Kieschnick observed a partially smoked marijuana cigarette fall from one of the individual’s laps.

Deputy Kieschnick performed a probable cause search of the vehicle and located several bags of Marijuana and THC vape cartridges throughout the vehicle. He also found a pistol, all of which the passenger claimed possession of.

The passenger, Nigel Williams, was arrested for the offenses of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Williams, 27 of Leesville, LA, was also charged with Unlawful Carry of a Weapon for the possession of the handgun while in the commission of other offenses constitutes another offense. Williams was transported and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
