Toys For Tots toy drive
VICTORIA, Texas — The holidays are only days away and Toys for Tots is busy collecting toys for the Crossroads.
Santa’s typical elves aren’t the only ones working for the holiday season. The Marine Corps. Toys for Tots is getting the job done.
“We call this our annual Stuff the Truck toy drive, and it’s for the Marines’ Toys for Tots, and everyday we do this to because we have a lot of less fortunate kids in our community that go without Christmas,” says Mark Longoria, spokesperson for Toys for Tots toy drive.
For the past 15 years Toys for Tots has collected toys. Here in Victoria after Hurricane Harvey struck, their help was needed more than ever.
“We have so many families that are still struggling from Hurricane Harvey and it’s such a help for them that their children have something to look forward to. This is a help for those families,” adds special guest, State Representative Geanie Morrison.
The goal is set this year, for 30,0000 toys, helping 15,000 kids, two toys at a time.
“We’re very excited about ‘Blue Santa’ came out of hibernation. He’s been missing for a couple of years, but he’s been out making a lot of appearances. We want no kids to go without a good Christmas,” says David Brogger with Victoria Police Department.
Both H-E-B locations in Victoria will host drives Friday through Sunday from 9 am through 7 pm.
