Toyota and Chevrolet earn top safety ratings
The IIHS tested to luxury electric vehicles and they missed receiving the highest safety rating, plus this week may be the best week to purchase that new TV you’ve wanted.
Two luxury electric vehicles, the Tesla Model S and the BMW i3 missed getting the highest safety ratings in crash tests from the insurance institute for highway safety.
Neither vehicle earned the institutes “Top Safety Pick” award which is given to vehicles that get the highest rating in five tests and offer a crash-prevention system with automatic braking.
For the 2017 model year, 38 vehicles have won the “Top Safety Pick-Plus” designation, including two hybrids, the Toyota Prius Prime and the Chevrolet Volt, but there are no all-electric vehicles on the list.
And in other business news, if you’re in the market for a new TV, you could find a better deal this week than you would have found on Black Friday.
The two weeks before the super bowl typically has the lowest prices on the highest quality televisions.
During the holidays many retailers are pushing older models or off brand sets, but at this time of year they are looking to clear out as many televisions from 2016 to make room for new models that will hit shelves in the spring.
