Topping Out Celebration for DeTar Hospital’s New ER

Victoria – Detar Hospital says Things seem slow but they are making progress. Plaster has been removed. Dirt filling has been completed. Right now the crew has placed in the Grade Beams and will be starting to pour the slab at the end of this week. The crew is expecting to receive the steel beams and start the framing on next Thursday, April 14th.

On Wednesday, April 13th there will be a Topping Out Celebration at 11 a.m. The community is welcome to come the day before or an hour before the event and sign the steel beam that will be the last beam placed on April 13th. Once they’ve placed the beams, the framing will begin and the construction progress will be faster.

Starting on August 1st the construction will take over the Emergency Department waiting area, the triage room and part of admitting. Once that has started there will be some reassigning of space for a couple of months until the construction is completed. Please make sure we reassure the patients that this inconvenience is only temporary and the inconvenience will be worth the wait for the new Emergency Department.

The new Emergency Department is anticipated to be open by the end of this year.
