DEWITT COUNTY, Texas – Here are the top headlines this week in DeWitt County from The Cuero Record.

Cuero I.S.D.

The Cuero school board will be accepting an application to review from Light Source BP for two 200 mega-watt projects in southern Cuero ISD.

Carmona Building Throroughfare Project

Demolition has started on Main Street for a Throroughfare Project on the old “Carmona Building”. The City of Cuero purchased the building in 2020 with plans of creating a walk-way from the back parking lot on E. North Railroad Street through to Main Street.

Jack Alvarez moving on

After two seasons with the Gobblers Jack Alvarez, the Cuero AD and head coach, is moving on. He was named the AD/head football coach at Marshall High School. Cuero native Adam Arroyo was named Interim AD.

Primary Election

Early voting continues until Feb. 25 and election day is on Tuesday, March 1. Voting times and locations can be found in this week’s edition of The Cuero Record or Yorktown News-View.

Kitty Kat basketball

The Yorktown Kitty Kat basketball team was defeated in the area round on Friday. The loss ended the season and the high school careers of four seniors. This was the Kitty Kats third consecutive 20-win season.

Golfing Gobblers

Golf season tees off for the Gobblers as they traveled to Columbus last week and will be back in action this Thursday.
