Titans hand out football awards

East football wrapped up its most successful season in school history this past year, advancing to the state quarterfinals. On Monday, the Titans recognized players by handing out team awards.

The Titans “Offensive MVP” went to running back Brandon Tumlinson. He became the first East sophomore to rush for over 1,000 yards and had 16 touchdowns this season.

Free safety Jonathan Whitby was named the East “Defensive MVP”. The second-team all-district junior had 174 tackles, five tackles for a loss and added three interceptions.

“Special Teams MVP” went to kicker Jack Traugott. The junior made first-team all-district and accounted for 90 points for the Titans this season.

The “Titan Heart” award went to center Jacob Wieblehaus. The senior was named honorable mention all-district this season.

The “Extra Effort Award” went to senior receiver Aaron Suniga.
