Three VISD Golf Teams Finish In District Top Three

East & West Girls, West Boys Make Regionals

Three VISD golf teams are heading to regionals.

East girls golf rallies past West to win its seventh district championship Tuesday at Gabe Lozano Golf Course in Corpus Christi. The Titans shoot a final round 364 to beat the Warriors by nine shots. both teams qualify for regionals. East’s Karsyn White and West’s Ansilee Stehling tie for second after they both shot 86’s in round two. They finished eight shots behind individual medalist champion Kaylee Canales of Veterans Memorial. Amber Short of the Titans had the best VISD girls final round with an 85.

East girls scores: Karsyn White, 85-86-171; Shelby Austin, 91-98-189; Amber Short, 104-85-189; Loren Escalona, 94-99-193; Adrianna Jaramillo, 107-95-202.

West girls scores: Ansilee Stehling, 85-86-171; Carly Oracion, 89-96-185; Leila Sutherland, 91-107-198; Maile Sciba, 105-96-201; Emily Bauknight, 112-99-211.

West boys golf, barely continuing its streak of making it to regionals. That streak up to nine straight years. The Warriors and East tie for second, West wins in a one-hole sudden death playoff. West shot +1 in playoff as a team on the extra hole. Jared Lofland, Jordan Hanes and Caleb Meisner had par and Wyatt Klekar had a bogey on the difficult par 4 10th hole. Lofland shoots 82 for the Warriors’ best final round score. Evan Salais’ 82 was the best Tuesday titan score.

West boys scores: Jared Lofland, 84-82-166; Jordan Hanes, 88-84-172; Wyatt Klekar 92-87-179; Jude Stehling 92-88-180; Caleb Meisner, 91-90-181.

East boys scores: Clayton Maraggia, 83-84-167; Evan Salais, 89-82-171; Cody McIntosh, 89-87-176; Delano Castillo, 90-92-182; Karl Dickey, 95-102-197.
