Three family members test positive for COVID-19

A Placedo resident has tested positive for COVID-19 along with her niece and nephew

VICTORIA, Texas — Christina Guzman is finding out how life is with COVID-19. After undergoing a surgery,  not related to COVID-19, she started to feel symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Once she realized she needed help to get to the bathroom, that is when she realized she needed to go to the doctor. The doctor did a chest x-ray, saw some fluid in her lungs and decided to test her for COVID-19. She said getting tested is one of the worst things to go through.

They put this long little swab down your nose and its one of the worst feelings for me it was. It feels like it is literally going down your brain or something. It is a horrible test.

That is when she received the bad news, but it only got worse. A few days later her niece and nephew that live with her tested positive for COVID-19 as well. They are in their early 20’s and didn’t have any symptoms. Guzman spends her days at home and warns her family about coming over because she does not want to spread the disease.

I am very precautions about going out anywhere. I know a lot of people say different things like no you are not contagious anymore. But I don’t want to put anybody’s life at risk, and I don’t want to give it to my family.

On top of having COVID-19, she is worried about her bills getting paid because she cannot work due to being quarantined. Guzman plans on going back to the doctor on Tuesday and then she will get tested for COVID-19 for a second time on Wednesday.
