The Victoria I.S.D. and the VISD Education Foundation announce three new scholarships

Students and Leadership Academy participants can apply for new scholarships

Victoria, Texas- Victoria I.S.D. graduate-candidates and Victoria I.S.D. Leadership Academy participants have a new opportunity to apply for new scholarships. The scholarships were  created in collaboration with Superintendent Quintin Shepherd.

“I am pleased to make these scholarships available for our students and staff, as we endeavor to ensure everyone can find and pursue their genius,” said Shepherd.

The V.I.S.D. Education Foundation is a 501c 3-charitable organization that serves as a link between the school district and our community made up a 23-member board of directors to provide funds for projects and activities that go beyond typical classroom experience. The executive director was thrilled to hear the news about these new scholarships.

“Scholarships are one of the mission-critical aspects of helping our students and V.I.S.D. leaders forge a path that will help them grow in the direction of their dreams,” said Robin Harkey, executive director of the V.I.S.D. Education Foundation. “We are profoundly grateful for Dr. Shepherd’s generosity as together we seek more as students and educators seek more for themselves.”

One scholarship will be open to V.I.S.D. staff that participated and graduated from the Leadership Academy. Staff in the district who are enrolled or awaiting acceptance in the UHV Master of Education in Administration & Supervision with an emphasis in Principalship program are eligible to apply for the UHV Graduate Leader Scholarship with the award amount of $1,000. V.I.S.D. graduate-candidates will have the opportunity to apply for two local scholarships.

Two thousand twenty-one graduates who have already received acceptance and are enrolled for Fall 2021 will have the opportunity to apply for a one-time $1000 scholarship to the University of Houston-Victoria.

“This scholarship program reflects the commitment of V.I.S.D. to work collaboratively with UHV to provide pathways to a prosperous future for our area students,” UHV President Bob Glenn said. “We are committed to ensuring that through the scholarships, students get the support they need to complete their degrees. We are grateful to VISD for this visible and tangible support of UHV and the students of Victoria. We look forward to making this partnership even stronger in the future.”
