The Victoria County Sheriff’s Office confirms a double hit and run in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Texas–A few weeks ago we reported on a hit and run in Bloomington. The initial report provided to Newscenter 25 was that one person was involved, it turns out a child was also hit in that incident. The Victoria County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed this is now a double hit and run investigation with the suspect still on the loose.

“We got a call referencing to a hit and run as well as a potential stabbing. Deputies responded out to the area identifying two victims. One being a Lapita Juanita Valdez Gomez an adult female who had a compound fracture to her left wrist which was broken as well as a broken right arm. She was flown to Brooke Army Medical Center for attention,” said Roy Boyd, Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy.

The other victim was a 13-year-old boy who has a broken right knee. This incident happened on Tuesday, April 28th at Second and Rail St. around 8 p.m. that evening.

“Deputies went out and interviewed several people and conducted an investigation. The investigation has been turned over to our investigation division who is currently working on it. Due to the number of people that were at the scene and the information that has to be obtained, the Deputies are going through and conducting the interviews at this time to try to make sense of what happened,” said Deputy Boyd.

Chief Deputy Roy Boyd says there was a fight before the hit and run. Deputies are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.

“At this point in time, we have not made any arrest due to the fact that we are still conducting investigations and ensuring that all the information that we get is true and correct. Unfortunately as often the case in these kinds of criminal activities a lot of people that were at the scene are actually involved in not only this crime but other criminal activities,” said Deputy Boyd.

There’s no word if the two victims are still in the hospital.
