The U.S Department of Defense deployed the Army Reserve medical task force to help DeTar Hospital

VICTORIA, Texas– Members of the U.S Army Reserve Medical task force are in Victoria to help DeTar Hospital. The recent spike of COVID-19 cases prompted Governor Greg Abbott to take action. Now members of the U.S. Department of Defense Medical staff are in Victoria to provide DeTar hospital with additional assistance.

“When we surge resources when we work collaboratively with those of the officials at the local level we are able to achieve containment of the spread of COVID-19. We are able to achieve a reduction in the number of people hospitalized and we are able to stabilize the local community,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

The U.S. Department of Defense deployed an 85 person Army Medical Task Force to Corpus Christi and Victoria to help fight COVID-19.

“I want to underscore the importance of everybody understanding how serious COVID-19 remains and that is the death of Cleburne County Commissioner Salense, who passed away due to COVID. This can strike anybody, anywhere at any time,” said Governor Abbott.

Governor Abbott, says his goal isn’t to shut down the state but to enforce policies that will help stop the spread of the disease.
