Synopsis: Temperatures mix in with the heat index could approach 100 degrees while off to the west head indices could be around 110 degrees on Monday.  The Crossroads will warm into the upper 80’s.  The cold front out ahead of the storms could make its way into South Texas on Tuesday afternoon. Another weather scenario has the front washing out, weakening and breaking up before reaching some of the northern counties in the Crossroads.  There is a chance of that but for now we will plan for potential severe weather and cooler temperatures.  Adding in the cooler air with winds the warm air and moisture, and we could see some severe weather.  The Storm Prediction Center has our northern counties from the Victoria Crossroads to the Rio Grande under a marginal risk of severe weather for Monday night. With the boundary remaining in the area, our best chance of showers and thunderstorms will be Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon. Moderate to heavy rain will be possible within thunderstorms, which could lead to minor localized flooding, especially across urban areas.  The heavy concentration of moisture, mixed in with thunderstorms could produce 2.5″ of rain Tuesday through Wednesday night.  Temperatures start to increase through the weekend.
