The race for Victoria I.S.D. District 6 trustee
Two candidates are in the running for the District 6 seat.
VICTORIA, Texas – Two candidates are in the race for Victoria I.S.D. District 6 trustee seat.
Incumbent Margaret Pruett is seeking re-election and former city councilman Emett Alvarez is seeking to win the District 6 seat.
Pruett has more than 20 years of involvement with the Victoria I.S.D. as a substitute teacher, in ESL and in special education. She wants to continue the work she and the board have done together during her term.
Alvarez has 40 years of business and government experience and is running to renovate schools, lower the tax rate and he wants to help make those tough budget-cutting decisions.
Election Day is Saturday, May 7.
Polls will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting starts next Monday, April 25 and runs through the 29 and also May 2 and 3. During early voting, polls are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The City of Victoria also has 14 city charter amendments for voters to review.
