The Humility Project gathered to bring attention to homelessness in Victoria
Homlessness is still an ongoing issue in the area
Victoria, Texas – Representatives with the Humility Project met at 311 East Warren street Monday morning where some people have set up tents.
Encampments like this are not ideal and they’re looking for another option.
The director Kim Pickens, says there is not a homeless shelter in Victoria that accepts women, families and couples.
” I just want people to realize that the folks here are human beings. I get to close my door at night and melt down or celebrate they live life in front of everyone and that’s a lot it does make a difference everyone needs to have their own space to be able to grow and heal,” said Pickens.
This group says encampments like this are not uncommon and often more hidden from the public. Pickens is also a volunteer at Christ’s Kitchen, which is always accepting donations and in need of more volunteers.
