The Generals look for their third championship

Victoria Generals Headed to Championship After a 3-1 Win

VICTORIA, Texas– Victoria Generals defeat the Cane Cutters in a low-scoring affair with strong pitching and timely hitting.

The Generals’ Adam Becker singles on a line drive to center field and Cody Cleveland scored. A passed ball in the 1st inning allowed Bryce Holmes to score an additional run. Joshua Rodriguez flied into a double play, but Austin Ochoa managed to score.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters’ starter Nick McAuliffe received the loss as he could not keep the Generals bats at bay during his three innings of work. McAuliffe allowed three runs, two unearned, on five hits and recorded three strikeouts. Out of the bullpen, Andrew Cossio and Patrick Lee held the Generals to three runs. Cossio went four and two-thirds innings allowing only two hits and recording six strikeouts. Lee came in for the final out to hold the Generals at three runs.

The Cane Cutters scored the only run of the night when Matt Abshire flied out to left field and Cole McConnell scored after tagging up.
Generals’ starter Alec Cruz received the win tonight as he kept the Cane Cutters to only one run in his four innings of work. Cruz allowed one earned run on two hits and recorded two strikeouts. Mason Foster, Josh Salinas, and Austin Testerman came out of the bullpen in relief. Mason Foster went a solid three innings, giving up only two hits and recording three strikeouts. Salinas pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up one hit and one walk. Testerman finished the job going one and one-third innings with no earned runs and recording two strikeouts.
