The Empty Bowls Event

VICTORIA,Texas–From smashing bowls, to picking a beautiful take home ceramic, it was a great day to have some nice soup, while helping a wonderful cause. Victoria College held their 16th annual Empty Bowls event in hopes to keep raising money for those in need.  Victoria College Art professor Debra Chronister has been organizing this event ever since it started here in Victoria.

“It’s so important people don’t realize how many people are out there that don’t get not just enough food, but enough nutritional food and this really helps and these organizations really count on us,” said Chronister.

Victoria College students have been making ceramic bowls all year long just for this event. Attendants purchase a bowl and get to fill it up with soup, which is donated by local restaurants. This event in particular allows the money to stay local which then all proceeds go to local hunger organizations here in Victoria. The Empty Bowls event raises more than 20,000 dollars a year thanks to all the generous people who joined in helping this great cause.
