The City of Victoria Will Soon Be Accepting Hot Fund Applications

PRESS RELEASE: The City of Victoria is accepting applications from local organizations seeking Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Funds from June 6, 2016 until June 30, 2016. Under a State of Texas law, the City of Victoria collects a Hotel Occupancy Tax from hotels, bed & breakfasts and other lodging facilities. The revenues collected may only be used to promote tourism and the convention and hotel industry.

Priority will be given to applicants based on their ability to generate overnight visitors to Victoria, including the arts, historical, tourism and sporting organizations. Only those events and programs that generate meaningful hotel night activity will be eligible to receive hotel occupancy tax funds.

Applications will be reviewed by the HOT Funds Committee and recommendations will be made to the City Council in July. The City Council will make final decisions on funding.

Pre-application sessions covering the HOT Funds application process and new changes to the evaluation process will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 9 and at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22 at City Hall, 105 W. Juan Linn, in the 2 nd Floor Conference room. All applicants are strongly encouraged to attend as attendance to an information session is part of the application process and will be taken into consideration during application evaluation.
