The City of Victoria has hired a consultant for the Parks Master Plan

VICTORIA, Texas—- The City of Victoria hired a consultant for the Parks Master Plan. The purpose of the plan is to provide a roadmap of what the community members want within the park and recreation system.

“We’ll have more community input through Riverside Park Conception Rendering and we will say, what would you like to see in Riverside Park? How can we program this park out and so we’ll look at Riverside Park as a whole? Then specifically go down into let’s say four different areas of the park,” said Jason Alfaro, Director of Victoria Parks and Recreation.

The mission is to improve the quality of life for the residences in Victoria County by providing activities that will encourage health, fitness, and cultural programs.

“So Half and Associates is our consultant firm who we’re moving forward with and they have a wealth of knowledge in dealing with master plans and surveys, more specifically with COVID. I know that’s a big issue right now is how can we work around that so we will have a lot of online opportunities,” said Alfaro.

Due to COVID-19 the City of Victoria will have online opportunities so everyone will have a chance to participate in the online survey.

“We are still trying to move forward with in-person meetings and in-person information gatherings. We’re just trying the social distancing to make sure that we have that approach in there as well, so it will probably be a hybrid approach, to be honest with you,” said Alfaro.

The city will start reaching out to the community within the next two months.
