The beauty of contemporary abstract art
VICTORIA, Texas- Jose Antonio Ramirez Velasquez was born in Mexico City before moving to east Los Angeles where he studied music while getting the chance to interact with different kinds of artists. The Victoria Art League will be showcasing Ramirez’ work starting Monday January 13th.
While abstract art may be difficult for some to understand, Ramírez wants to assure people that there is still beauty to be found in the abstract.
“They still think that abstract art is ugly or they don’t like it cause it’s too weird or whatever when it could be gorgeous, it could be beautiful. So, I’m trying to get the beauty out of the abstract,” said Ramirez.
Ramírez didn’t get into contemporary abstract art until just a few years back. He wants to allow people to get the chance to see that contemporary abstract art can be and is beautiful. His work comes from ideas he gets from all around. Ramírez’ work is based off of fantasy and his imagination. He wants to show that bright color and character interactions play an important role when it comes to expressing emotion.
“I just start painting and just portray anything that comes to mind; like I receive all kinds of ideas,” said Ramirez.
Contemporary abstract art has its own unique beauty and people could see so many things in just one painting by using their imagination and by looking at the painting from different angles.
When asked about what he enjoys most about contemporary abstract Ramirez smiled.
“My favorite part is the fact that most of the time I don’t know what’s going to come out what I’m going to end up painting,” replied Ramirez.
His work will be showcased at the Victoria Art League until the end of January.
