Texian Books moving to Main Street

VICTORIA, Texas — While businesses across the nation adjust to a new reality in the age of the novel coronavirus, one small business in Victoria is moving to a new home as well.

Local independent bookseller Texian Books, founded in March 2019, is moving from their current location in a historic home on Forrest Street to 201 S. Main Street. Allyson Griffin, Director of Business Development for Texian Books’ parent company, said the decision to move downtown is keeping in lockstep with a local push to add a commercial presence to Victoria’s historic district.

“We believe at the end of the day if more business like us can show up and put in the hard work to move to downtown, it could be a great place for the entire community,” said Griffin.

Texian manager Justin Salinas said the business has been fortunate not to have been seriously impacted by the global pandemic.

“Luckily for us, we really haven’t, I guess had to deal with a bunch of setbacks as far as the remodel and moving to the new location goes,” said Salinas.

Salinas and Griffin said Texian Books anticipates construction on the new Main Street location will be completed, as scheduled, in mid-June. A grand opening for the new location is scheduled to take place sometime in early fall.
