Texas Paratrooper Killed in Iraq Combat
Two paratroopers with the 82nd Airborne were killed in combat in Iraq.
The Army says Sergeant Allen Stigler Jr. of Arlington and Sergeant Roshain Brooks from Brooklyn died Sunday while engaging with the enemy with artillery.
One commander said both men were “courageous patriots and paratroopers who served our coalition and the people of Iraq with extraordinary commitment.”
It was Sergeant Stigler’s first combat deployment and Sergeant Brooks’ first deployment to Iraq.
Stigler was 22 years old and Brooks was 30 years old.
Both were posthumously awarded the bronze star, purple heart, meritorious service medal, and combat action badge.
