TEA accountability ratings show improvement for 81% of V.I.S.D. campuses
Victoria I.S.D. aims for continued improvement
VICTORIA, Texas – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the 2022 accountability rating to public school districts across the State of Texas on Friday, Aug. 12.
Throughout the 2021-22 school year, staff and students focused on necessary learning standards, accelerated instruction and student progress. Due to these efforts, 81% of Victoria I.S.D. campuses showed improvement over their 2019 pre-pandemic ratings.
52% of campuses increased the overall score by at lease one letter grade. 19% of campuses increased their score by two letter grades. V.I.S.D. earned an overall score of 78. This score shows that the District’s teachers and staff effectively closed the learning gap due to Covid-19.
Victoria I.S.D. scores show the amount of work performed by V.I.S.D. students and staff to address unfinished learning created by the loss of instructional time during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2022 accountability ratings are the first received since 2019 for the public school districts. They are based on a combination of indicators, including performance on state standardized tests, graduation rates and college, career and military readiness outcomes.
- O’Connor Elementary School saw a 21-point increase;
- Shields Elementary School saw a 19-point increase;
- Torres Elementary School saw a 15-point increase
- and Deleon Elementary School saw a 13-point increase.
Mission Valley, Vickers Elementary School and Schorlemmer Elementary School earned an A, the highest rating possible. They had scores of 95, 94 and 90, respectively.
V.I.S.D. aims for continuous improvement. Data indicates that unfinished learning due to the effects of Covid-19 was reduced. Throughout the 2022-23 school year, the District will continue to offer rigorous coursework, ongoing interventions and many opportunities for students to Find Their &.
