Tax season brings loan advertising

As Americans get ready to file their 2016 income tax returns, they can expect to be bombarded with ads for refund-related loans.

H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt and other preparers are fighting for market share and looking to lock in customers who might turn to an online competitor such as Turbotax.

The companies hope to market these easy money loans for a limited time to struggling tax filers who benefit from the earned income tax credit, but are now facing added delays for getting their refund as the IRS looks to crack down on fraud.
