Tax Day extended to July 15th

Extra three months to file taxes

VICTORIA, Texas- Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced Friday morning the tax day deadline is now extended to July 15th; that gives you an additional three months to file your taxes.

The Coronavirus pandemic has left a lot of Americans uncertain about how their daily lives will be altered with a fluid situation like this is. Now the IRS  hoping to provide a bit of relief.

Under the direction of President Donald Trump taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time with no interest or penalties. The IRS will also benefit from this change as they are shifting their workflow.

At the moment, all taxpayer assistance centers, where people can call in for questions and concerns, are closed until further notice.

Local leaders like district 27 congressman Michael Cloud, are making sure constituents are aware of the change by posting to his official Facebook page all the details.

The community is advised to file as quickly as possible. If you owe money it’s better to know now and plan for those payments rather than waiting until July 15th.
