TP&W closes some Oyster bays in Texas

Oyster bay resolution in Seadrift, Texas

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department closed oyster bays. During a Seadrift city council meeting, attendees expressed their appreciation for a resolution passage requesting for further studies on the economic impact in the proposed areas and surrounding communities. Many vented and reacted with an applause. In further detail, the TPWD proposed amendment was written in a Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 58.21 regarding oysters, shrimp, and finfish. A sub chapter says their statewide oyster fishery proclamation calls for the closing of Carlos Bay, Mesquite Bay, and Ayres Bay due to negative biological impacts of increased harvest pressure.
