Justin Taylor Reynolds, 38, of Cuero charged with murder in shooting incident

The victim in a shooting along US Highway 87 is identified as Ashley Gainer, 23, of Victoria, Texas. The suspect charged with murder is identified as Justin Taylor Reynolds, 38, of Cuero, Texas. Authorities say the victim was in a Cobalt that was involved in a possible drug transaction at a convenience store in Nursery. Following a dispute, authorities say the suspect chased the Cobalt and fired several shots into the vehicle. One bullet hit Gainer. The suspect was in aa white pick-up truck found on Folly Road by the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office. A weapon was found near the scene by Victoria deputies and a K-9 unit. A woman in the white pick-up truck, Michelle Helge, 33 of Cuero, is charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.
VICTORIA, Texas – Two suspects are in custody in connection to a woman who died from a gunshot wound around 9:05 a.m. Wednesday.
The woman is a white female, deputies are unsure if she is a Victoria County resident and were unable to share her age Wednesday afternoon.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers also responded to the call, said Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Will Franklin.
Upon arriving on the scene, two passersby were performing CPR on the while female who was on the ground.
VCSO deputies were assisted by DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office deputies in the apprehension of the two suspects that allegedly fled the scene in a white pick-up truck toward Cuero.
“At this time the suspects are being interviewed the determine the facts,” Franklin said. “No formal charges have been made at this time.”
The woman was transported to a DeTar Hospital Navarro where she died from the gunshot wound, said Franklin.
