Stolz Street will get a $530,000 reconstruction

The busy intersection of Houston Hwy and Stolz St. will be realigned, following serious safety concerns

VICTORIA, Texas- Victoria City Council approves a new design for Houston Highway and Stolz intersection. This is right by the HEB entrance.

In the past two years, more than two critical car accidents involving pedestrians have happened. This prompted the city to discuss options for the street. Back in October, it was decided to realign Stolz St.

City engineer Ken Gill explained, “once the signal goes in, with TxDot, each pole, which will be 4 signal poles, each one will have LED illumination and we will put the brightest one we can find.”

The project is expected to cost about $530,000. The city budgeted to cover part of this project from money received through grants such as the ‘Community Development Block Grant’ (CDBG). As of right now, the completion date for the complete renovation of Stolz Street is expected to be May 2021.
