STJ Softball Gets New Head Coach

John Hoelter has been hired as the St. Joseph High School Lady Flyers head softball coach. Hoelter has been a girls’ softball and basketball coach and teacher for 33 years.

He has coached softball as either a head coach or an assistant coach for 22 years. He was an assistant head softball coach at Shiner ISD where they won the State Tournament in 2011, 2015, 2016, and were State Runner-Up in 2017. He was at Halletsville ISD as an assistant head softball coach when they were State Runner-Up in 2009 and a Regional Finalist is 2010.

In addition to softball, Hoelter has served as a head girls basketball coach for 21 years, where his teams have won 403 games.

Hoelter, and his wife Sandra Hoelter, have two children and two grandchildren.

The announcement was made today by Mike Hall, STJ athletic director.

“John brings a tremendous amount of experience with him to the Lady Flyers Softball program,” said Hall. “We are looking forward to having him as a part of the coaching staff at St. Joseph High School, where he will be a tremendous asset for developing our student athletes and continuing the strong tradition of STJ softball.”
