STJ Hoops District Home Saturday Doubleheader

Flyers, Lady Flyers Host Brownsville STJ

A big district home doubleheader for St. Joe basketball Saturday.
The Flyers are on a roll. They lead the district at 3-0, they are 24-1 overall, ranked number two in the state TAPPS 5A poll from the Texas Association Of Basketball Coaches. It appears no one will stop the Flyers from winning district. I asked two Flyers what it’s like to be on such a great team.

Said post Kyle Henke, “It’s a great feeling. I’ve never been part of a team like this in all four years. It’ll be great to how far we can make it this year and if we can win state.”

Said wing Collin Omecinski, “We know our jobs on the team. We all know what our role is and we do our best to play that role.”
St. Joe girls basketball comes into its district home game Saturday afternoon at 1-2 in district. The Lady Flyers are in fourth place in district with five games left. Top three teams make the playoffs. I asked two Lady Flyers how well their team is playing three games into district.
Said forward-center Jayne Eaves, “We’ve played really well. We definitely have some stuff to work on right now. But honestly if we focus on that and pay attention we’ll do fine.”
Said guard Madison Rather, “I know we can play better. Coming into it we weren’t as strong. But now that we’ve played some of the teams we’re hoping to come out even stronger and put in more hustle and hard work.”
