STJ Girls Basketball’s Runaway District Win

Lady Flyers Hold Opponent To Two Points

St. Joe girls basketball, off to a 2-0 district start, and coming off a lopsided district win.

Lopsided would be an understatement. The Lady Flyers won at Laredo St. Augustine Tuesday night, 45-2. Jozelyn Washington led St. Joe with 18 points. St. Augustine, down to just six players due to the flu. The Lady Flyers starters played about a half, and head coach Leslie Wunsch told me the St. Joe girls executed their game plan. I talked with two Lady Flyers about the big win.

Said point guard Madison Rather, “I’m very proud. We worked really hard throughout the game even through the circumstances. We played full court man then we backed off and we just held strong throughout the whole game.”

Said post Taylor Foeh, “We feel very accomplished. We stayed confident and calm and focused the whole game. We didn’t let them come back in scoring more points.”

St. Joe boys and girls basketball continue district action Friday night at the St. Joe Dome against John Paul. Ladies game first at 6:00.
