STJ Boys Basketball Starts Season 12-0

Flyers Win Own Tourney

With a new head coach, and a mostly new team, St. Joe boys basketball is off to a flying start this season.
The Flyers, now 12-0 on the season after going 3-0 at their tournament last week and winning the tourney championship. Flyers KeAon Griffin, Quincy Johnson, Jaren Wilson, Ed Clay and D’Ary Patton made the All-Tournament team. They are part of the seven transfers from East who have joined new head coach Michael Blank and some Flyer holdovers. The combination is working very well. I asked the coach with all the new faces, how have they jelled so quickly?

“We have a group of guys that have played together before. We did a lot of work over the summer. When I first got into town we did a lot of team camps and summer league play. We took as many times to touch the ball as we could, and the more you get to play on the court with each other the better everything starts to gel. We’re starting to figure out each other and what our strengths and weaknesses are.”

STJ boys basketball looks to go 13-0 Tuesday night when it hosts Pettus.
