Three Flyers, Two Lady Flyers Get Special Honors

Three St. Joe boys basketball players, making the TAPPS 5A All-State team Tuesday.

First team All-State honors go to Quincy Johnson and KeAon Griffin. Johnson, a senior guard, named District MVP Monday. Johnson also gets first team All-District honors after averaging 14.25 points and a district leading 4.9 assists per game. Griffin, named District Offensive MVP Monday. Griffin also gets named first team All-District after leading the district in scoring average at 18.5 points per game. All-State Honorable Mention goes to J’Den Miller. He earned District Defensive MVP and first team All-District honors with 3.3 steals per game.

For St. Joe girls basketball, two All-State picks. Senior post Jozelyn Washington, first team All-Dtate. In her only season with the Lady Flyers, Washington averaged a double double, leading the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game and in rebounding with an 11.7 average. Junior wing Maiya Tillman, getting Honorable Mention All-State. Tillman averaged close to ten points and nearly seven rebounds per game.
