Stifling Heat Continues through the Weekend; Wetness for the 4th?

Upper level high pressure will continue to dominate South Texas weather through the first of next week, bringing muggy nights and stifling afternoons but no rain. That changes beginning late Tuesday as a plume of Gulf moisture invades the region. Look for isolated afternoon showers Tuesday, then widespread showers and storms midweek. Scattered thunderstorms can be expected Thursday and Friday. The heat goes on, however. Meanwhile, a huge plume of dust from the Saharan Desert has traversed the tropical Atlantic and is invading South Texas. Residents can expected several days of haze, eye and lung irritation, and some allergic reactions.
